  • Pretty great. Lots of rich, buttery, aged Italian cheese rind aromas on nose. “Demanding”, as billed. An almost graphite-like minerality, maybe it’s some dialogue between the lees and chalk.

  • 94 is a legit score for this stellar wine At 1 g/L, it tastes more like 7 due to the ripeness and high quality of the grand cru chardonnay fruit. Great intensity for this BdB, and it should age fantastically. Loved the balance and length of this wine.

  • Champagne Dorien No. 14 Grand Cru Le Mesnil Sur Oger v. 2014

France, Champagne, 100% Chardonnay, 12% abv.

    Bottled 2015, disgorged with 1g/L in 2019.

Pale gold, very persistent fine moussey effervescence.

Bouquet is mineral driven with crushed gravel, citrus, clover, shortbread, flint.

The body is acidic and precise. Chalk, lemon oil, phyllo dough, citrus leaf, and a long mouth puckering finish that mellows and rounds as the wine warms and has time open.

Really beautiful offering consumed over the course of two days. Clean, focused, and precise. Ready now and seems to also be built for the long haul.

    94/100

  • If you can get your hands on this, do it!

Sipped on this over two hours and it was explosive. So much depth and concentration with aromas of beautifully dried jasmine and dense chalky mineral notes. Best champagne I've had this year for sure.
