  • Followed over two nights with a dramatic uptick in complexity and harmony on night 2.
Very dark ruby color with an auburn fade at the rim. Small amount of sediment. Profound floral and fruit perfumed nose. Palate is creamy but bright and has subtleties beyond my ability to describe. Very long finish with esters that linger into night. What a lovely little wine! 5+12+17+9= 93
Reminds me of some of Basel Cellars older high-end wines, like The Alchemist.

  • Dark fruit, some spice and tobacco on the nose. More of the same on the palate with medium acidity - tannins still pretty grippy. Medium plus finish. In a nice place with more evolution to go.

Edited to add Cam's notes so I can find them:
Dark garnet, almost opaque in the glass. The bouquet is redolent with spicy blackberry compote, creme de cassis, pepper and mineral-infused florals with a kiss of smoky oak. Rich, chewy and dense on entry with plenty of ripe fruit and lush, toasty vanilla notes from the American oak perfectly balanced against rock and tobacco. Rich and ripe with seamless tannin integration, this terrific Cabernet Sauvignon is a first-class effort at an INCREDIBLE price. Should be drinking quite nicely in April. 98% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Malbec, 100% Estate 40% new French and America oak 14.9% alc.

  • Discovered a bottle and remembered it did well with pasta. True. Complemented alla vodka very well. Slightly less acidic than a chianti but with much more of a weighty mouthfeel. No decant

Day 2 with leftovers - including leftover pasta. Acted a bit tired. Brightness had dimmed

So seems at "open and drink up" stage. Overall quite decent..better with food

  • Garnet-ruby in the glass with aromas of cassis, blackberry, tobacco leaf, vanilla bean and Asian spice. Rustic palate with nice structure, moderately grippy tannins and a wet gravel note on the finish.
