No formal notes. Consumed after a 6 hour decant. Very balanced, tame tannins, lots of dark red fruit. Really well integrated. Not sure why the drinking window on CT ends at 2018. This wine was really great.

9th of 12, pnp, half travelled cork but perfect level, again delicious and in line with last two bottles (Oct 21 and Aug 20), still some underlying unresolved tannin covered by exquisite ripe nuanced fruit, plateau with some upside, 10+ years. F+ (18)..........cabernet brings class and nuance and sangiovese adaptability particularly against tomato based Italian flavours.

Joel's Tuscan Lunch (The wilds of Kent): I thought this was on form. Nose of lifted red fruit, a little overripe plum, tomato On the palate rich red fruit with good balancing acidity and silky tannin - quite young despite the 24 years. Just enough Tuscan typicity for me.

Tuscan Lunch chez Joel (Kent countryside, UK): Aromatics were very distinctive and firmly on the dark fruit with old leather and tobacco. Quite full bodied, and not soupy rather than fresh and on the black fruit with a prominent lick of oak in evidence.

(Castello dei Rampolla Sammarco Toscana IGT) Dark red violet color; dried cherry and mineral nose; elegant, dried cherry palate with good acidity; medium-plus finish 93+ pts. (David poured it blind; I guessed Italian and probably Sangiovese)
(Castello di Rampolla Sammarco) Now this nose was jumping out of the glass. Very opulent and ripe with dark cherries, complex spice mineral and dark curranty fruit. Just a swath of fruit on the palate with great purity and delineation. Oh this was good. Silky yet at the same time very dense. Not a piece of liquid wasted. All flavor. This had great sweetness but was no where near going over the top. Impeccable balance. This was the wine of the day for me.
