  • 2nd btl.
Quite a bargain, even if today's btl didn't perform as well as the January plop.
Reading other's TN's, the oak is perfectly integrated. All the beauty of the previous btl is here, but this one is short and leaves every gulp rather abruptly.

The coarseness of the wine is also rather charming and goes very well with food. Best dish complement was with the cold cuts.

  • This is a coarse wine with a good dollop of tannins. Like a medieval brute trying for a balerina. We love it!
    The opposite of Bojo!

Black red with the slightest bricking.
Nose is of coffee, old earth, American oak, some herbal components, very dark chocolate and tiny oxidization.
In the mouth this is a harsh tannic beast, but in the most favourable of ways. Started out sillily thin, but started carrying itself well already within the hour. Tannins are crude. Acidity bang on medium. Wine from warm origins without being from a hot place. Intensity and depth.

Actually tastes "Spanish", but I doubt I would have come anywhere near Toro in a blind tasting.

Preferred with food, not as a Sprechenwein.

  • I like Toro wines, and this is not near in quality to the Numanthia Termes products but it was a nice soft subdued Toro that went well with some hard goat cheese.

  • Quite puzzled by the other reviews. This bottle was received exceptionally well by a dozen knowledgeable tasters who had already enjoyed some exceptional good and expensive wines. This was no let down. Good fruit, tannin and acid balance. paired exceptionally well with paella

  • Ouch i missed this one. Too old, at least this bottle was. Raisins, wet tobacco and something that might be called fruit. All in all fun to open at this time and suggest if ya got it, go for it. Of note and i mean no disrespect to this next statement; this would be epic to cook with!

(Finca Sobreño Toro Selección Especial) American oak nose; tasty, big red fruit palate with a touch of coffee; medium finish
