  • This comes from Gualtallary in the Uco Valley at 1,400m elevation on calcareous soils with gravel and sand. Native yeasts. Vinified and aged in mostly used French oak barrels for about a year.

The color tone is darker for a Pinot yet quite transparent. The nose features bright ripe red fruit with a touch of minerality. The palate is silky with red berry fruit, plenty of acidity and a peppery, spicy finish. It has some Pinot qualities in that it’s light and bright, but there’s also sort of a Rhone style to this wine which makes it more upfront with the fruitiness and not quite as elegant as Pinot can be. It’s still a fun wine and is nothing like the Malbecs coming out of Mendoza, so I’m glad to have more diversity coming from this region.
