  • Lovely, almost glowing pink with an apricot tint. The nose on this rose is remarkable, showcasing rose petals, raspberries, orange oils, pink grapefruit, slightly oaky — vanilla custard. Sweet/tart in the mouth, long finish with a saline note at the end. Outstanding Tavel, and a genuinely world-class bottle. This will age for years.

This “exclusive” cuvée is quite expensive. At our table, Adam (who grew up in Sonoma and knows his wines, and loves the Mordoree Dame Rousse — he proposed to my daughter over a bottle of it), wanted to be positive but ultimately felt that this was a little too oaky, and not really worth the extra cost.
