  • Even after 14 years, Paul's wine is still a nice claret color with only minimal bricking. The nose opens with some strong earthy, olive, eucalyptus aromas but those blow off to show some leather and mature currant. Mellowed black currant fruit gives way to cinnamon, chapparrel, mint, green olives and a lingering, warming, spicy finish. It never really faded over its two night consumption. I probably drank a few years after its best but was still dang nice.

  • Surprisingly, this is the first of the three we purchased that we've opened. Loads of eucalyptus in the bouquet- in fact it's the dominant quality for a good thirty minutes or so- eventually revealing mint, red berry fruit, currants, cherry and perhaps also some clove. Fully-integrated in terms of the tannins, there's a wonderful dark fruit quality joined by warm spices. Finishes with nice length and balance. Absolutely ready to go from the passive cellar, but in no danger of falling off any time soon.

91 for me, 90 for Domino. We have two bottles left, and I'll hope to drink one with Paul & Stef when they are in town, and I might leave the last for another few years just to see what happens.

  • Garnet color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose of boysenberry, currants, black berries and floral notes. Flavors of black berry and boysenberry. Light acidity with resolved tannins. Very good, probably at or just past peak.

Tasted non blind. Opendd and glass decated about 30 minutes before serving.

Dark garnet color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose of boysenberry, currants, black berries and floral notes. Flavors of berries, boysenberries and plums. Medium to tangy acidity, resolved tannins, full bodied. Drink or hold. I'd drink. In a really good place right now. Yummy. Beware: blowing some sediment.

  • Tasted non blind at home. Decanted for 90 minutes prior to the first taste. On the nose it has cherries, strawberries, cinnamon, cedar and a touch of green peppers. In the mouth, it is full bodied and palate staining immediately with black currants and cocoa. It turns into sour cherries as it is transitioning into a very long and pleasant finish that has cherries, black tea and maybe a hint of sassafras. The tannins are fairly resolved and this one seems to be in the good place right now. It is certainly entering the drinking window and is very enjoyable. Solid effort, Paul and Stefania!!
