It's quite astounding how lifted/floral the nose on this bottling is (similar to many others at Williams Selyem) - we've been a fan for a few years and this bottling continues to be one of our favorites. The other tasting notes absolutely nailed it with the stewed berries, ripe fig - this is definitely a fruity wine but at the same time very elegant and finessed. Definitely would recommend a brief (perhaps 30 mins - 1 hour) decant to take some of the residual heat off? Regardless it was still wonderful on pop and pour so it's hard to go wrong with this bottle currently.
Also - Drake Estate Pinot Noir for the past several years was only poured/sold in the tasting room at the winery, but I was told will be available for allocations this fall. Definitely a bottling to keep an eye out for.

A beautiful reflection of the location and house style. Elegant, but expansive, dark cherry and red fruits with an explosion of baking spices and hints of wet forest and pine. Supple and rounded on the palate, but with good lift. Perhaps a bit lacking in tannin, but this is a sculpted and polished wine that wears its showiness well.

Severed on Boxing Day. Continues to be a lovely wine and one of my favorites. This wine has lots of wonderful fruit and lovely wood spice notes. See my 5/26/2021 review for more details as that review still holds true. The 93 point rating also applies.
(Served with braised short ribs, black-eyed peas, and baked fennel.)
