  • In the decanter an hour prior to drinking. Feel this has aged a bit since trying 20 odd months ago, feeling a bit tertiary. Garnet tinge, dried fruits and dried herbs to it, yes that sweet balsamic, soft and rounded. Think I preferred this younger, however nice and pleasant, good food wine as per varietal, but drink up.

  • Decanted. Brilliant ruby in the glass. Lifted notes of brambles, rosemary and garrigue spices. Softer fruits include strawberry, cherry and raspberry even aromas of peach juice with oak waaay in the background.
The palate is slippery and generous with medium weight. The finest lick of tannins wraps around a complex flavour profile that send it off into the distance. Pronounced length. Very Good.

The lighter style bears little resemblance to old world expressions and to my mind a truly new and invigorated approach for sangiovese. Long may it live.

  • There’s something very Nebbiolo about this wine: light in colour but deceptively complex. Florals then earth and meat, followed by prominent tannins due to time on skins. Spice too. Somewhat iron fist in velvet glove. 13% ABV. Time will tell.
