  • Sunday wines at home (Chicago, IL): #04-22, 7.5% abv. How is it that this wine tastes almost flabby? Serve it next to a 2021 Keller Limestone Kabinett. I'm pretty sure this wine is consistent with my previous notes, and it's the comparison that makes this wine feel different. Minerally and taut with plenty of acidity. Very nice now. Too bad I drank all of them...

  • #20-21, 8.5% abv. Very consistent with my last notes. On the heels of a mini lineup of young Dönnhoff, I picked up a hankering for young riesling. This is as electric as I remember it being, with excellent complexity for the price, and just the right amount of old-school Kabinett sweetness. Loads of acidity, but a breadth on the palate from the fruit. Absolutely fantastic.

  • #20-21, 8.5% abv. The sweetness drinks kind of like a very old-school Kabinett, perhaps even at a modern feinherb level. Slight yeasty/sponti note on the nose, especially owing to the relative youth, and despite the acidic profile of this on the palate, the (yellow) fruit on the nose feels very rounded, sweet, and ripe. The palate is quite different though -- the acidity leans heavily toward the citric side, with the sugar just barely able to balance out the acidity. This wine really does exemplify the whole "electricity-in-a-bottle" kind of aesthetic, but fortunately there's ample weight and breadth to give this balance. While I'm sure there's profit in aging this, the bright, drinkable freshness of this is just too compelling right now; my bottles of this are unlikely to make old bones.

  • Definitely too young but already good integrated acidity.

Looking forward to open the next bottle in a few years
