Pinot noir sourced from the Hautes-Cotes de Beaune region of Burgundy, 12.5% ABV, not mevushal. Appearance was pale to medium depth ruby with low viscosity. Had a very interesting experience with this one - both the nose and the mouth were very harsh upon opening with heavy - almost vinegar - acidity. Probably VA, but may have been sulfur. After an hour the wine started to become palatable, a lovely medium intensity Burgundy nose of cherries, strawberries, hibiscus, rose petals, green spearmint, cotton candy, forrest floor, truffles, lots of cloves, and brown sugar. On the palate it was light to medium bodied, ripe fruit, smooth tannins and moderate acidity. A touch of plum, black cherries, loamy dirt, some green notes, umami, cured meat, smoke, and cola. Finish was medium length, layered, and a touch ripe, tobacco, black cherry, and cocoa. Minus the first hour, a very nice wine and a true expression of a Burgundy wine. 90-92.

I am not a particular fan of Hautes-Côtes de Nuits reds, but this one is quite good. Bright color, well-made, good fruit with (as one might expect) tight acidity. Generic Bourgogne reds can be hit and miss. This one is a hit.

Delightful. Cherry candy, forest floor, mushrooms. A pleasure to drink, can’t wait to see what happens
