During a MOT masterclass by Stephan Reinhardt to celebrate the first Swiss 100 point wine by Marie-Thérèse Chappaz who was in the room. Chappaz has been doing things differently in bulk wine Canton Valais and pushing quality and boundaries. It was great to see he succeed with the scores as well. As she explained, Marsanne is one of her favorite grapes. It makes a wine of texture and not acidity, elegant, aromatic floral. TN: the 2003 showed well for such a warm year, lightly oxidative, herbs, lemon, lots of phenolics, while the 2002 was fresher with asparagus, cummin and citrus.a

During a blind tasting dinner. Very nutty, oxidative with caramel, a bit like a medium dry sherry, some people guessed Chenin Banc, Marsanne it was. Good wine, to oxidative for me

Masterclass with Stephan Reinhardt and Marie Therese Chappaz (The Dolder Grand, Zurich): Glass: Stölzle Universal
From a 1h parcel planted in 1924 located between 500-600, height.
Clear, deep golden color. A bit oxidized nose. On the palate a bit sour and sweet, a bit unbalanced. But still beautifully complex and long! 91-92
