Retail $30. Ridiculously Light Bottle (462g; 1lb 0.3oz)Under screw-cap. I can't remember the first time that I stated that Rodney Strong produced some of the best value wines in Sonoma County, but I do know that I have said it often. I have also told folks at the winery that their wines are under-priced, but as of yet, they have not listened. Case in point. This Blue Wing Vineyard Pinot was one of the top wines among the 60+ wines I tried for the Sixth Annual Blind Tasting of American Pinot Noir (96 Points) and I am not changing my mind today. And for thirty bucks? Find me a better value, go on, give it a shot (if you sense that I doubt you could, you are quite perceptive). Similar tasting notes.
The Sixth Annual Blind Tasting of American Pinot Noir (Houston, Texas): Retail $30. Under screw-cap. Light color, translucent. Wonderful nose of bright cherry and a touch of earth. Lovely. Whoa. Holy cow. Great fruit, wonderful acidity, a lengthy finish. Right off the bat this is stellar. 96 Points.
