  • This Sauvignon Blanc comes from the Slovenian part of the Zieregg site. The 2015 vintage provided the Tements with so much good grape material that they decided to separately vinify the wine from the Pruh parcel, a historic quarry with barren coral limestone soil. The wine was on the fine lees for 66 months after a long maceration period and spontaneous fermentation.

Medium straw yellow with green reflections.

Quite typical of the Ciringa wines beyond the Green Border on the Zieregg is the more reduction notes in the form of gunpowder, which the Pruh also shows in nuances. But this is nothing more than an overtone in an impressively complex music. Here it smells of fennel, broccoli and rhubarb, cassis, gooseberry and elderberry, a bit of pineapple and oranges as well as grapefruits along with zests, mirabelles, mint and a few tomato leaves. To balance it out, however, there is a noticeable amount of chalk and chalky rock flour.

On the palate, the Pruh delights with its almost filigree delicacy and elegance as well as its forcefulness. It offers a precise, ripe yet grippy and lively acidity, underpinned by an energetic minerality and a fine fruit. Again, the successful blend of bright ripe, but never ostentatious or even placative fruit, the slightly green nuances typical of the grape variety and the ever-present stony and in the final slightly salty spiciness.
