D3 DipWSET STILL WINES - Prep with Lauren and Mike (Mike's Place): A: Pale lemon N: Medium (+) nose of lemon, orange essence, honeydew melon puree and rind (pb), ginger, FENNEL, baking spice, yellow blossom P: Dry, high acidity, medium alcohol (13.5%), full body (from barrel and not from alcohol or this fairly light bodied grape), medium (+) intensity or lemon, orange essence, melon puree , ginger, FENNEL, baking spice, yellow blossom, honeydew melon rind (pb), medium (+) finish C: Balance of oak and fruit in here. The oak is well integrated. There is a tropical and citrus fruit combination which encapsulates a herbal element (the latter of ) which would separate this from an albariño for me. In addition the lack of saline would differentiate this from an albarino. The flavors push through to a promising finish. The wine is beginning to show some complexity but this is really from primary and secondary character. Its a Very Good Quality wine but greater complexity and more clearly articulated fruit would push this to outstanding. I am not detecting a lot of tertiaries despite the age so I don't think that this is likely to improve with further ageing.
Not a lot of personality but this does well for $22/bottle

Pas le plus complexe, mais une très belle texture assez grasse et persistante. Très équilibré, aucune lourdeur inutile. Belle saveur de pêche subtile avec des notes épicés. Belle complexité d’arôme, tout de même assez retenu.
