Best bottle of 82 L’Evangile with sous bois, forest, strawberries, red cherries, and earth. Ethereal and elegant palate but it started to fall apart after 45 mins. Drink up.

A recent estate release, and as you would expect, the levels and cork condition were perfect. This is magnificent, and nudging the Cheval Blanc for the right bank wine of the vintage. The nose is a fruit bomb of ripe strawberry and red cherry, but the palate carries some robustness with tertiary notes. My only barrier to a higher rating is the finish which, while lengthy, is not fully integrated, and comes across as a little harsh. Does this beat the 1975, I cannot decide, and possibly another year or two could integrate the finish.

Please see my prior notes. The medium intensity nose showed a hint of Provençal herbs at first, along with the usual flavors previously noted. This wine had great power without weight. It almost had a Graves-like gravitas. Impressive!

Something not right even though not corked or madeirized. Pinched and chemical although some fruit could be detected.
