  • Roasted apple wood, raspberry coulee and cinnamon on the nose. Juicy black raspberry and plum on the palate with a little bit of tart on the finish, followed by fine grained tannins.

  • The de Negoce Cabernet Sauvignon n.173 is a stunning offering from the legendary Murray Ranch organic vineyard. This classically styled Cabernet is a wonderful example of structure, balance and sophistication. Upon opening, the wine exudes an alluring aroma of blue and black fruits that are well-complemented by the perfectly integrated oak. The fresh and vibrant acidity adds a refreshing quality to the wine, further enhancing its appeal. It was very good right out of bottle, except for the powerful tannin/acidity which was a tad prominent. This was fixed with about a 5-hour decant.

On the palate, the wine has well delineated fruit and is well balanced, with a great backbone that holds everything together beautifully. The pyrazine adds a wonderful element here, and could almost, at times, be mistaken for a high-end Chilean cabernet. While it's already drinking nicely, I believe that this wine has significant potential to improve in the next two years. With time, the fruit is likely to become even more prominent, and the wine's structure will continue to evolve and mature.

Overall, I would rate the De Negoce Cabernet Sauvignon n.173 at 93-points. This is a fantastic wine that showcases the best qualities of a classic Cabernet. It's an excellent choice for wine enthusiasts who appreciate a wine that's both elegant and approachable, yet also has some power to match. Whether enjoyed now or laid down for a few years, this wine is sure to impress. The wine was a perfect compliment to a pizza Napolitana, with fior di latte, garlic, basil, and salsiccia.

  • Part of a blind tasting:

Wine #4. About an hour of air.

"Intense nose, oak vanilla, black fruit, menthol, maybe some VA (not off-putting). Huge structure on the palate. Deep dark fruit balanced with big acid and tannin and very little RS. Again no signs of age. Throughout the night the structure came down slightly but was still tight. Very quality wine and most likely 2018 napa cab, $120+. Don't open for 3-4 years but I am really interested in what this will be like at 10+ years. 93pts. Edges wine #3 for WOTN due to personal preference of dryness over RS."
