  • The 2018 and 19 Becklyn Cabs are a little different from previous vintages. I have the bad habit of pop and pour. My impressions at this stage: The wine has has improved, however it will benefit from further cellaring I believe. This Becklyn shows significant improvement especially with air but it start it out a bit restricted and tight. After some time, the wine slowly comes to life. As has been previously noted, the color is dark crimson purple with a floral nose. On the palate dark berry fruits, blue and black berry, currents, plum, medium to full bodied with good extraction, coco dust, some leather, and some tobacco. Quite a value especially when compared to it’s contemporaries. 92+/ 93 points for now.

  • Thinking about buying more but wanted to revisit first. Decanted for four hours on day one but that wasn’t enough - a little tannic/acidic. However, improvement on day two and three. Dark ruby fruit - blackberry, currants, and dark cherry. Smooth mid-palate with decent depth/concentration - medium/medium plus body. Nice vibrant flavors of dark berries, some spice/licorice, cassis, and a fairly prominent mineral/graphite component that I’ve never experienced with previous vintages. If tasting blind, I would have guessed a young Quivet Las Piedras cab. Fairly long finish. A nice vintage of this wine but in my opinion it needs another year or two to open-up/develop further. 93/94 on day three. 100% cab.

  • Attractive nose with an enticing, deep purple reddish color. On the palate, dark blackberry and blueberry fruit, dark currants and tobacco. A medium to full bodied Cab with some tannins. Solid components are in place to make for very good wine but at this stage there a tartness / acidity that shows with this wine even after 2 days. The first couple of bottles of this vintage were surprisingly approachable, however it’s seems clear that this one needs more time for resolution. 92+ Points.

  • First of my 2019’s I’ve opened from Becklyn. Wow! What a wine. Immediately accessible but should improve with air. Deep ruby color. Aromas of plum, blueberry pie, blackberries, cassis, baking spices. Smooth entry with a hint of acidity that I think integrates with more time. These will be hard to hold off on though! 94-96

  • Great label and a quality wine for the money, a solid 'bang for the buck' value. This wine opens with an intense purple color and amazing aromatic bouquet. Palate wise, very good but slightly dialed back when compared with my first couple of bottles (see previous notes). Better days lie ahead for this vintage, fantastic now with decanting, but it should pick up more traction over the next few months. 93/93+ Points now.
