  • Deep and dark purple fruit, medicinal liquorice with a touch of menthol, burnt caramel.. thought this an Australian Shiraz of sorts due to the bottomless core, but perhaps just a tad too young to broach right now. I see where descriptors of elegance is coming from but really, that is not a word I’d use for this bottle in a vacuum. With that said, it is not a jammy wine by any means. I’d give it at least another decade or so to really settle down but as of now, rather overwhelming and too young for me.

  • Looks like no notes for this unicorn wine, so let me add in the first. From a small barrel only, ~300 bottles (with some in magnums and jeros) for this inaugural vintage. From a vineyard up on the plateau of Cornas, belonging to his wife's parents. Young vines. Aromatic on the nose, very lifted and perfumey. Palate is lightish for a Cornas, very elegant and approachable already. Almost a juicy wine, yet not veering towards "natural tasting".
