Not the wonderful, exciting example as the last bottle. As bottles can be… Has all the red/black fruited backbone. Just muffled and hence showing more acid presence. Perhaps a lesser bottle or the wine is shutting down for a while. Leave 2-3 years and revisit. Better on Day 2. And its pedigree is not open to question. Neighbouring Fleurie, vines dating from 1951. Well made. It’s the kind of “steal” I love to find.

What a spectacular BV!!! Vines from 1951. Vineyard close to Fleurie. Great year. Great winemaker. And all of this shows. Quite deep purple. Aromas of Fleurie Gamay. Beautiful lift. Full of life. Wonderful matching flavours. And power from this. It would shame many PC wines from other makers. Just gorgeous, feminine, floral, intense, lively flavours. A wonderful balance. Its freshness says drink now. Its structure says keep some for 2-3 years min, but could still be driving in a decade. For the price, I will add some, if still available. Perhaps the greatest QPR wine I have drunk.

No deposit.
Raspberry fruit with strength from the VV.
Palate follows. Good acid. Drinkable now but better with more time.
