Doing some cellar inventory maintenance, I realized I forgot to remove this bottle, which I opened around a year ago. Still, I recall this bottle pretty clearly. I had low expectations, but damn if it wasn't still alive and kicking, with decent fruit (given the era and that this is from a lesser negociant, I had to wonder whether there wasn't a bit of Rhone syrah/grenache blended in), a pleasant aged-Burg nose with a hint of Vosne spice, and only a soupçon of VA. No it wasn't profound, but, the aforementioned suspicions notwithstanding, it a testament to what village-level Côtes de Nuits can achieve in a top-notch year. Considering the rather meager hammer price, this was a win.
