  • The most pleasant thing to me about this wine was the beautiful golden color. The nose is earthy, with crushed rocks and minerals, and definitely some green-ness here. Get some green pepper and asparagus, etc. The texture is great - it really coats the mouth. The palate, however, fell a little short for my taste. It wasn't overly mineralic (like I love in many white burgundies), and was just kind of ordinary and not very long lasting. I think this wine probably falls into the category with other 1996's that were supposed to be great, but are falling short today. The earthy green flavors will probably develop further into an interesting wine, but it doesn't pack the punch I was hoping for.
