  • Good news to all of you that were 'moved' by Cam's hyperbole around this being the best cab that he's ever procured. While it's most definitely still not a 'great' wine....it's come together a fair amount compared to my last bottle and is fairly enjoyable. I'm still not sold on the upside here but I'm slightly more bullish that it might be worth hanging onto these vs. Gifting them. Time will tell!

  • Fantastic, especially given the QPR on auction.

  • So I popped another #200 tonight based on some of the comments on WineBerserkers......and I stand by my last note. This wine is just not enjoyable right now. Its all oak, chocolate, coffee, and heat, with an oddly thin finish that's then followed by a wall of tannin. Maybe SLIGHTLY more integrated, but that's probably just me searching for a positive. I hope that it will become a good wine (getting a bit of acidity on the mid-palate which gives me hope), but it's honestly hard to tell. Tastes like a big, generic, oaky cab right now. Lots of stuffing for sure, but i can't say where its going to go. I know that's probably not what peeps want to hear, but I have to call it like I see it (or taste it in this case).

Will wait at least a year and a half before I check back in, as I realize that this is a super young cab. Hopefully I'll be pleasantly surprised!

*saved half the bottle and will report back if there's any improvement worth noting.

  • Big and bountiful. Nothing out of order or distracting. Enjoyable now and time will be kind.

  • Normally I wouldn't event be thinking about opening a 2019 Napa cab, but I had to give one of these a shot given Cam's super high praise (best bulk cab juice he's ever sourced is what he said I believe). As expected, this is just really, REALLY young. I decanted the entire day before pouring a glass and it was still all heat, chocolate, oak, and tannin. Not exactly what I'm looking for. Day 2 the heat has mostly subsided but its still really tight and not giving up much. Day 3 this has finally come together for the most part and was the most enjoyable. Dark purple fruits with a hint of mint/eucalyptus which I really enjoy. Not a ton of acidity but enough to keep it from being over the top. Long story short, this has the stuffing to be a nice cab, but it needs quite a bit of time to integrate. I understand wanting to check in on one since we all have a case of it......but know that the best days are yet to come for #200.
