A beautiful and vibrant violet that coats the glass. Petite Sirah is known as a meaty wine with moderate acidity. This wine fits that profile. The first taste is rich, bordering on decadent. Plum and cherry with a hint of tobacco.
About an hour in and the tannins have gone from ultra fine to more pronounced. The blue and red fruit has receded, giving way to a darker, black fruit profile. The sweet tobacco leaf now presents more as leather. Still enjoyable but more Cabernet-like as compared to the Merlot-esque profile to start.

PnP-Very inky color and a little shy when first poured. With a few hours of air it comes alive with blackberry, black cherry, sweet tobacco, cocoa nib, tar, black pepper and black tea. A nice finish with fine drying tannins. Well balanced and enough stuffing, tannin and structure to go several more years of cellaring. Throwing off a fair amount of sediment. I enjoyed this wine.

This tastes like Napa, alright! Petite Syrah but it's got sharp berry notes and tart cherry and very little earth. Somehow dry and fatty at the same time. (Pork belly with compote.) A beautiful lingering leathery vanilla finish. The mouthfeel improves as it opens, giving an almost broth-like experience eventually. You could do a lot worse if you're tilting at windmills.

Call me biased and a Licorice, fruit, jam lover or whatever. This is layers of delicate balanced fruit with some dusty herbs from the stags leap district flowering through the fruit, it might not be structured by a Cab Sauv but it's layered in a different way the flavors come. Perfect combination of petite sirah and stags leap district. 93. Drink now - 2024
