  • From L'Aventure as the partner Champagne house for them.
Medium lemon color. Medium intensity nose with a strong scent of lemon, biscuit, and lemon squares. I also get some orange blossom and ginger.
The palate has a lot of texture going on. Very creamy. Very lemon on the palate with hints of pear and spiced pear. More an elegant style than a power house. Not overly complex but not under representing. The price is a bit much at $45.

  • I found a bunch of half bottle of this wine on clearance for $13. 35% Chardonnay and Pinot Noir and 30% Pinot Meunier. The base vintage is 2018 with 35% being reserve wines. 4g/l dosage. I've opened a few of them now and enjoyed them all. Solid bead. Crisp and clean with less sweetness which I prefer. Plenty of citrus and white fruit notes. Nice round finish. 89 points.

  • Base vintage 2018; 35% vin de reserve. 35/35/30 PN/C/PM. No disgorgment date but 4g/l dosage (labelled Brut, but could equally be Extra Brut). The QR code on the bottle goes to a broken link!

Anyway, this is a very good general purpose house fizz. The nose is fresh: saline, iodine. The palate is very nicely balanced: a crisp slightly citric entry, a broader mid-palate with Thai lime to the fore. The finish is clean, but, particularly with food, a little short.

For me this is a wine that works really well as an aperitif, but fades a little in the presence of food (sashimi and and rice rolls in this case - soy and a touch of wasabi overpowers the wine to some extent).

But for the ~US$36 that I paid this is definitely an occasional repeat buy as a straightforward, crisp, refreshing aperitif fizz. I'm vacillating between 89 and 90 as a score.
