  • Hand-picked Furmint from vineyards planted on volcanic soil. Fermented and aged in stainless steel. 11% alcohol, 6 g/l residual sugar, 6,5 g/l acidity.

Very pale and neutral whitish-green color. Very primary nose with aromas of pear drops and sweet apple candies, some lemony notes, light floral notes of rose petals and a subtly Muscat-like hint of grapey fruit. The wine feels youthful, crisp and racy on the palate with a relatively light body and rather primary flavors of sour apple candies, some lemony citrus fruits, a little bit of Muscat-like grapey fruit, light floral notes and a hint of steely minerality. The zippy acidity feels high, but there also seems to be a slightest hint of CO2 which boosts the acidity a little bit. The finish is dry, crisp and racy with medium-long flavors of lemony citrus fruits, tangy Granny Smith apple, some tart notes of key lime, a little bit of grapey fruit, light floral notes and a hint of steely minerality.

A nice, crisp little weekday white. Perhaps a bit too youthful and primary at the moment, the almost candied pear drop notes lend a somewhat inexpensive Pinot Grigio feel to the wine. However, I found the combination of light body, modest alcohol and brisk acidity very lovely. Nothing too thrilling, but nevertheless a solid food wine for lighter fare. Perhaps could get better after a year or two of aging if the candied primary notes disappear as the wine ages. Priced according to its quality at 12,31€.
