  • Interesting wine and not one that feels like a Ridge (first time I’ve experienced that). This seems to have good acidity and yet, the fruit feels overripe meaning the fruit flavors are actually a bit cooked. The tannins are at an appropriate level but taste green, like unripe stems. This wine doesn’t make sense to my palate.

Edit: I have revisited this wine and determined the first was a bad bottle or my palate was in a weird place. The second tasting showed much better. Better balance, more youthful fruit. Still slightly green tannins but they weren’t obtrusive. Overall enjoyable wine.

  • Big berry cobbler nose. The palate is much more reserved. With even a bit of tannin. There is some green astringency actually. The acidity is lively and well integrated. That makes the finish lively. The fruit isn't real big making this feel balanced. The structure is a surprise but so is how little the fruit expresses on the palate. Hard to read the future with this. It is a wine that will work with dinner nicely given the structure. I'll probably let the other bottle rest and see if the astringency relaxes. Solid.
