Served after the bottle was opened with port tongs, a wonderfully traditional method. Port was light in color with caramel browning and a hint of red hue throughout. Light in the nose with brown sugar, hazelnut, vanillin and sour cherries. The palate was balanced, sweet, soft and warming. Very little acidity or fruit left but still a wonderful port in its later years. Finish was sweet, nutty, caramel notes with a slight bitter almond and cassis. Drink up. This port will continue to fade over the next 3-5 years.
