  • AP 38-20, 10.5% ABV. Off-dry. Yellow apple, ripe citrus, sweet piney herbs, florals. Silky and juicy and slatey, good concentration despite the medium weight, indeed almost chewy with slatey extract. Long, tart finish of oranges and pine forest. Superb.

  • Declassified Schubertslay (Kabinett made with 30yo vines). Classic Keller, white florals, light petro, linear, restrained. Not intense but well-made. 93

  • I’ve been very excited to try any of the bottlings from Julian Haart’s Schubertslay vines. This vineyard is a jaw-droppingly steep face with ancient vines that soak up the sun as they tower over the snaking Mosel river. This had a decidedly Feinherb feel to it, which made it all the more delicious and saturating.
To me this wine was like a basket of ripe citrus from my childhood in central California. Notes of Lime marmalade, tangerine, and pomelo filled my senses and transported me to a special place in my heart. The juxtaposition with savory note of wet slate made it all the more enjoyable and deep.
This wine will clearly benefit from some bottle age, but the amount of pleasure here is undeniable and draws you in.

  • Soft, low key but charming. Admirable purity if not quite the energy you usually get with Keller. Youngish vines from Piesporter and a barrel that didn't quite fermet dry equals this wine. I would let bottles rest a year or three.
