Intense nose of forest berries with fresh soil. Immediately approachable and enjoyable. Notes of red berries, red currant, rooibos tea, tobacco leaves and new leather. Aftertaste (medium long) with early signs of forest floor. Medium to full body. More ripe-fruited than the bottle about a year ago and somewhat more alcohol pronounced (14.5%). Very well made and very enjoyable. Although I suppose I like this better with less age.

Ciliegia, ribes nero, rosa e violetta. Spezie, roccia, erbe e muschio, sandalo, tostato e liquirizia. Meno sbilanciato sul lato alcolico rispetto a quanto ricordavo. Comunque la struttura si sente. Probabilmente migliorerà con qualche anno di bottiglia.

Maturo di ciliegia e di bacche rosse e nere, tostato, liquirizia. Giocato più sulla potenza che sull’eleganza. Comunque ben fatto, discretamente complesso e abbastanza persistente. Al momento non mi è parso particolarmente memorabile, ma può restare in bottiglia ancora per diverso tempo, e probabilmente ne potrebbe trarre un certo giovamento.

“Alto Adige/Südtirol – Where North meets South” master class (Geisenheim): Wine 6: 100% Pinot Noir, mostly from Mazzon, partly from Pinzano, and partly from Cornaiano. Destemmed. Mostly fermented and aged in large oak vessels, partly in barrique. 14% ABV. Medium to dark ruby colour. Slightly raisiny red fruit notes, oak, coffee, oak spice, with medium acidity, medium tannin and good length. The oak is very prominent at this point, asking for time to integrate. But the ripeness of fruit makes me question if the fruit will outlast the oak. 88-(?)

Actually not a bad wine. Although it did not meet my expactation of a Pinot. Too strong, too thick, too smoky, too heavy.
