Cherry fruit spiked with acidity and a little black tea revealing some marked soft tannins. Fresh but overly sweet. Not quite cherry cola but moving in that direction. Average but not atypical. CHP 85 pts

This is an adequate PN, aromatic and fruity. It is decidedly fruit forward. Compared to their 2018 Exhibition offering (both blended by Schug), this 2019, even after a couple hours of air, lacks the additional characteristic background attributes of forest floor or barnyard that differentiate truly good PN's from average ones. For an Exhibition labeling, to me this 2019 does not sing out praises for either PN as a varietal or the Sonoma Coast as its terroir, certainly not the way the 2018 did. I much preferred their 2018. Now, Schug know what they are doing so I suspect the brief they were given by TWS for this blend was for a product to appeal to the current fashion for fruit forward flavours over other attributes.

lovely vivacious wibe: vanilla and raspberry on the nose, lovely fruit, long finish.
