Costs $16-25 in the US. This producer is the most ubiquitous Chilean brand internationally after Concha y Toro. Taken from their coastal vineyards less than 30 km from the Pacific. 20% whole cluster and pressed. Fermented in stainless steel at low temperatures. Screw-cap. Almost the same as the Dog Point except this starts off with herbal, green vegetable notes before giving way to the white fruit, zest and floral notes. Fresh and easy drinking.

Actually, that should be Maximiano, the first name of the founder and a line of wine from the Viña Errázuriz winey established in 1870, and being the first to plant French grapes in the Aconcagua Valley in Chile. The grapes for today’s wine are from their vineyard located in Aconcagua’s coastal area, just about 8 miles from the Pacific Ocean, thus having the cold influence of the sea, just right for the:
Errázuriz Max Sauvignon Blanc Reserva 2020
There wasn’t a lot to do to this wine that nature hasn’t already accomplished. Already one of the first to obtain Certified Sustainability status and the use of environmentally friendly processes in the winery, the grapes are harvested, pressed, and allowed to ferment in Stainless Steel tanks, after which they were lightly filtered and bottled.
“Awestruck” was what first came to mind upon my first sip. While bright with nice acidity, there was a slight creaminess to the wine along with flavors of honeydew melon and maybe apple. A hint of minerality flowed through to the wonderful finish. If that wasn’t sufficient to make you run out and buy this wine, how about I tell you that I got the wine on sale for only $12.99? Now that is “To the Max!”
Cheers
