  • A but closed on nose. Big but balanced with dark fruit shirt if jammy. Tannins are still there but rounded. Decent finish. Could go a few more years.

  • Popped and let sit. Dark n deep in color. Biggest nose of night's lineup. Very new worldean in every way. Big, oaky, lots of fruit, soft mouthfeel. Not overly complex. Heat not overpowering.

  • Opaque purple. Overwhelming oak and disjointed if you pop and pour, this wine needs some serious time for decanting (or better yet, a few years more cellar time). It is bold but not yet intergrated. 15% alcohol (I'd like to see Paso Robles wines throttle back on the Alc)..

I've had the same experience with 2005 Isoceles; some bottles were great but others needing more time. The good news is that there are some intriguing herbal and gravelly notes in the nose and when drinking, but I wonder if this wine is too overoaked and will ever come together. I like Justin wine, but the 2005 is more tricky than other years.

After I opened the bottle, I saw that Justin is still recommending holding into the 2005. I agree with that.

Intense, chewy and grainy in texture. The flavors are built around bay leaf and herb spices. It's focused and balanced, offering a minerally-pebbly edge. Decant for now. Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. Drink now through 2012.

  • Dark purple color with a nice nose dominated by blackcurrent with noticeable oak. Nice balance and decent fruit inensity in the mouth and a medium length finish. This is nice wine but the problem for me is that it is very one dimensional without being exceptional in that one dimension. The palate reflects the nose and there is some fall off from initial entry to the finish. Not much complexity. I feel that there are much better wines available for $30. Nice wine but disappointing from this producer.
