Tuscany (Prince Sydney, 40 Hansard Street): Plums, a little blackcurrant; both smell fresh, a little sweet spice, touch of savoury underpin. Medium plus intensity acidity, a little peppery not, the fruit present with a little red hued underpin.

Double decant. Initially tannins were massive together with heavy fruit. Opened up during the hours after the decant and with time in the glass. Tannins were still strong, but softened so the rest of the wine could get some space. Lots of dark fruit, blackberry, blueberry, plum, liquorice and obvious acidity. Enjoyable after opening up, but needs a number of years to develop balance and structure. May score higher in 5 years.

Black fruit, black pepper, a bit astringent. Not quite as full as the 2016. There is a significant amount of fine sediment
