100% Tinta de Toro from a 13ha vineyard located in La Jara near Zamorra, close to the Duero River. Farmed organically, but not certified. 16 months in French oak, 15% new barrels.
The wine has a clear, deep ruby colour with a pronounced intense nose with aromas of black cherry, salted plum, chocolate, raisins, vanilla bean, cedar, ground ginger, fresh violets and toasted bread. The palate has a full body, pronounced fruit intensity, medium plush tannins and a high level of acidity with notes of dark chocolate, salted plums, ginger root, pickled beets, crushed rocks, tobacco leaf, baking spices and vanilla. The finish is medium plus length with lingering light fresh fruits, spices and nuts.
A pretty solid representation of what the Toro can offer for big, bold and rich styles of Tempranillo that feel like a fattier Rioja Reserva from an established house. It's showing very well now with some good development but the tannins aren't overly firm so I'd reckon this should remain in drinking window for the next 5 years.

Tinto del Toro. This I believe would fetch high Parker points way back. Lots of volume and jammy notes with intense purple color. Also lots of oak producing distinct vanilla and caramel. Almost liquor candy on the nose. 16.5 % and you feel it,residual sugar balances. Volume is high and tannins also on the high side. Leather can also be found where dark berries dominate. In a blind tasting i would've placed this in the new world. Toro wines are very full, though one what's natural and what's other things. 👍
