The bad news is that the previous reviews are correct that there's some smoke taint here (or if it's not that, a definite smoky tone anyway), definitely a step or two behind the previous vintage due to the thinner fruit that's a little bullied by the mesquite notes. The good news is that I have to say they still made it work really well here, we loved every sip of it especially for the low price. There's enough wild strawberry, cranberry, etc and nice minerality to play with the gentle smokiness in a fun way, like eating berries around a fading campfire. Acidity was more engaging and electric in the 2019, but this was no slouch, either. Nice elegant texture. I don't think I'd buy this vintage again, but taken on its own it was really pretty stuff. My wife also loved it, and we drink a lot of Oregon Pinot.
Tasted after 30 minutes of air. Smells like a wet cigar. Rough smokey notes masking over whatever fruit flavors are underneath. The base notes are still there but they are struggling to show their stuff. Some more smoke on the finish. Not good.

A little lighter than previous bottles. It paired nicely with many different bites of food. Quite good, particularly for the price.

Tasted after 1 hour of air. Some red berry fruit. No mid palate. A bit of spice. Short finish. Meh.
Not any better on day 2. Drink up ASAP.

We guzzled another bottle of this, with similar impressions. A wine of the earth, to be enjoyed over the next few years. 88-89.
