  • After 30 or so minutes decanting, my first glass absolutely burst with juicy raspberries, plum, and the classic garrigue CDP is famous for. The finish has a mild leathery tobacco note balanced by an acidic lift. The nose also presents a loamy petrichor scent.
This seems to be in its prime at the moment, although another year or two wouldn't diminish it much, if at all.

  • Thought to pop-n-pour, but this really needed to decant. 90 minute decant, 57 F. Ruby color. Definitely an old world wine. Subdued nose of raspberry, plum and earth. Low acidity, smooth tannins, short slightly grippy finish. No noticeable heat. Cranberry and blackberry fruit on the palate, dark chocolate, dried leather. Don't see it improving with time. Decent weekday wine to go with burgers, but not something that you want to share with guests (okay, maybe your in-laws...) Drives home the point of how much better the average wine is today compared to 30 years ago, when this style and quality of wine was considered to be better than average.

  • Good tannins, a bit of chocolate amidst a ton of fruit. Some dark cherry and plum. Smooth, medium bodied. Good for the price.
