Going on 1.5 hr decant. This is so tasty. Syrah dominant blend with Mourvèdre, Grenache and kiss of Viognier. Compelling notes of roasted meats, jerky, violets, black cherries, blackberries, torched orange peel and liqueur. Lots of flavors, lifting with ripe tannins on long finish.

Night 1 more fruit forward night 3 the herbal notes, tar, iron came alive. Both nights were very enjoyable.
Like this vintage more than previous years.
It is drinking very well right now. If you want something more fruit forward, open, give it an hour and enjoy. If you want something more complex and subdued, have a glass and then pump and save until tomorrow.

Amazing. You will savour every sip, look up for confirmation and get it. By everyone. And I mean everyone. All from your friend Y who can’t tell the difference to your friend X the sommelier who has never awarded 90+ to anything not pinot noir or riesling. It’s a reference point. Kudos to Jim and Rachel. And thanks!

Jim Binn has a magic touch; this EABA drinks beautifully now but I’m betting it will reward the patient among us with even greater pleasure in five years or so.
The notes on the Andremily website for this vintage are pretty much spot on; the blackberries, violets, olives, and charcuterie are all there. It really “leaps from the glass” as Parker used to say (far too often).
I’m looking forward to the newest wine in his lineup (2020 Slide-Hill Estate), of which I am grateful to have secured a few bottles).
Bravo to Jim!
