Had this at the same wine bar as the last bottle I TN'd but this was a much fresher bottle--more fruit, less petrol. Quince fruit with some lemon rind, excellent body and elegance. Wish we had better access to more chenins like this.

Ordered at a local wine bar. A richer style featuring pear and peach flavors with a little bottle-age diesel pushing from behind, almost full-bodied with an interesting viscosity. A white wine that drinks like a red, perfect for a meal where he ordered a Wagyu burger and I ordered a bowl of mussels.
This wine is imported to the U.S. by the South African owners of Washington state's Betz winery, and it's not the first one I've had but it's the first with any kind of bottle age. This '19 is the last vintage listed here on CT so probably not still coming into the U.S.
Medium yellow color with heavy tearing. Ripe and fresh pear, yellow apple, orange, peach. Hay, wood, a "thickness" and "oiliness" to it. Some white flowers and honey. Wet stone, cream. On the palate, rich and creamy texture. Ripe tree fruit and wood. Oak is almost too much. Acidity could be higher given it's a chenin. Could be mistaken for a new world chardonnay. Good, not great.
