Peabody House Natural Wines (Oak Barrel, Elizabeth Street, Sydney): Pretty fresh stone fruit, a little citric underpin, sweet spice, simple nose but clean, good. Juicy, fresh, fleshy, more stone fruit; peaches, a little apricot, touch of texture, long, pretty palate, very pleasant, arguably could be said to lack a little acidity

PnP and served at 12 degrees Celsius. This 100% Chardonnay with 13% alcohol has an interesting bouquet of pineapple, lemon, chalky minerality, iodine and fresh cream. Lively on the palate, it presents a nice harmony of texture but it lacks a bit of fruit. I can only detect a slight hint of citrus fruits and Granny Smith apples. At this price, less than 10 euros, we easily forgive this tiny defect. Medium-length salty finish carried by a refreshing chalky bitterness. I advise to drink this white more during the meal rather than as an aperitif. Paired with seafood or a smoked salmon with cream this must be so tasty. Good stuff to pop now and drink for the next 2-3 years. [Photo on Instagram]
