Welll this was nice. Wasn’t to impressed by the previous vintage but this one is way better. More light footed. Nice freshness where last year was lacking acidity. 2020 proves to be a very nice vintage overall.

I love Alain Gras St-Romain Blanc, year in and year out. This is not the best vintage but it’s still enjoyable. Nose of ripe pear and yellow apple with a touch of vanilla. Creamy and a little rich initially, a little boring, it took some air before it developed freshness and a mineral finish.

90 pts

Have not had this wine for a couple of vintages. Nice little white burgundy, I find a little reductive maybe a little too much stirring. Notes of orchard fruits, Asian pear, green papaya and white florals. Palate is medium bodied with quite concentrated orchard fruit, bright acidity but at this stage the fruit is front and centre and quite in your face. Really wanted to like this more than I did. Winemaking vs terroir? Winemaking wins.

Fantastic value for this white Burgundy village, at the level of a St Aubin 1er cru, crisp, tense and quite long. It gained weight and depth the day after. Very good for its level. Underated producer.
