Surprisingly good for $12 in the clearance bin at Kroger. Blend of barbera & nero d'avola. Pours a thick dark purple (nero roots are showing). Nose has plum, blackberry, stone fruit, cassis, hint of oak and vanilla behind the fruit. Full bodied, big on the palate, medium long finish. Moderate to full tannins from the nero but with nice acidity from the barbera, finishes with balanced munerality. Benefits from plenty of aeration and time in the glass, 2nd glass softer with touch more fruit. Nero d'avola is so underrated as a varietal. Location wines are a nice find, will definitely try some of their other regions.
