Beautifully open nose of red fruit, spice, touch of iron. Smooth and open on the palate. Initially a little thin but gained weight with air. I don’t expect further improvement but this should hold for many years.

Another amazing 2000 Leroy and this was also delicious on day two. Not as complete as the CDLR we had next to it was more high toned red fruit and a shorter finish, but still incredible.

Leroy Field Trip; 2/11/2022-2/14/2022: 1194/7660. Opened at noon, served at 7. Much much better than the bottle yesterday, this wine needs all the air. Leroy perfume, so transparent but weighty. Not at all dirty, but earthy and woody true to Vougeot characters, with bright lacy red fruit in the front. Weight is grand cru indeed; a big terroir likes this really depends on the producer! 94-95

(Domaine Leroy Clos Vougeot) Bricking medium cherry red color with pale meniscus; oak, incense, baked red fruit nose; tight yet, rich raspberry, black cherry, mineral palate with depth, needs 2-4 years; long finish

200 Burgundy Grand Crus from vintage 2000, 4-day blind tasting (Singapore): Rich and ripe, spice box, great structure too despite its light appearance, slightly dry tannins on the finish but very aromatic and it held up well in the glass.

Stem and red fruit aromatics. Sufficient weight but with pronounced rusticity that imposes drag on overall body. 1194/7660.
