It's a bit of a shame as there is really nice fruit in here but unfortunately this was not vilified right IMHO. It has the ripeness and richness of an auslese but the winemaker tried to fit all that ripeness into a kabinett and the end result is a wine with very flamboyant rich texture, moderate sweetness and high alcohol for a kabinett (10.5%) that just doesn't work for me - I would have preferred it as an auslese / spatlese trocken.

Classic Rheingau Kabinett that is evolving much faster than anticipated. Bought at Canal's at 6 years of age, so I can't guarantee provenance. Deep yellow golden color with great nose. Acidity is not there though which is what makes it all work for German wines.

Shimmering golden hue sparkles on a warm summer evening. Youthful peach and apricot flavors predominate. Still fairly full and round, but with enough acidity to avoid softness. I would have liked a bit more precision so the 2 remaining bottles rest for a couple of years to see what happens.

At least for my bottles, this is on it's way down but an excellent Kabinett.
