  • Solid, but not as impressive as previous. Fruit is a bit muted and overall low energy, maybe in a bit of a closed off era. Will try again in a few months.

  • I did a blind comparison of dN 250 with 2019 Human[e] by Rasa. I tried to blind myself, but knew immediately which was which by the nose of the 250. My wife had never had 250, had been over a year since either of us had had the Human[e].

Rasa’s Human[e] in 2019 used entirely DuBrul Vineyard Cab 53% and Merlot 47%. Pretty close to their Creative Impulse ($115-135) and Cote Bonneville DuBrul Estate blend Cote Bonneville ($125). Human[e] is a $50 bottle with part of proceeds going to a variety of charities. Good work by Billo and Pinto Naravane of Rasa. Look for it around late fall/holidays.

Anyway, my wife and I enjoyed them both and we followed the wines over an evening of grilled ribeye, purple baked potato and green salad. Umpqua Mint Chocolate Chip for dessert.

I knew which was which, but would score the dN 250 slightly ahead of Rasa, 94-95 vs 93-94. I had scored Rasa a 98 at Christmas, 2021. I think that was a bit of an exaggerated tasting event, also with my wife aside a prime rib oceanside at Depoe Bay, OR, but nonetheless, it is a spectacular wine. My wife also preferred the dN 250 and she was totally blinded to even what variety of wines we were having.

  • Medium body, red and blue fruits, good acidity and structure.

  • Splash decant and back into the bottle for service. Flavors of cassis, black cherry, eucalyptus, and vanilla oak, with coffee and dark chocolate rounding it out on the lengthy finish. Outstanding stuff that is drinking really well right now, despite the young age.

  • Consistent with prior notes, except only a 90 min decant. Comparable on Day 2 as well. Great wine, in a great place for so early in it's development. I see this drinking well through 2029, possibly another 3-4 years.
