It's an interesting wine. I expected to taste a mouth zapping amount of alcohol, but this tasted rather light, or I was confusing it with acidity due to palate fatigue (#11 served). This was also rather light on flavor and is probably a few years beyond its peak.

This deep garnet wine was tasted in double-blind fashion, with the bottle kindly provided to our tasting group by J.C. Showing an intense nose of red plums, clove, cinnamon and minerals, it follows with a full-bodied, fresh palate with flavors mirroring the nose. The medium-weight tannins have some grip, while the alcohol (despite being listed as 15.5%) is well-integrated. Solid in the middle, it closes with medium length. Although this wine is currently drinking nicely, it may improve with a bit more time in the cellar (to further soften the tannins). That said, I would not hesitate to open it now. Drink now-2020.

Kingston Dinner 3/25/13 (Fairfield, CT): Decanted for 2 hours. Drank blind (except me) and there were some zin guesses. There is a hint of paint thiner on the nose, but not strong enough to offend. The fruit was fairly muted on this wine which made it difficult to guess its origin as Australia. An interesting wine. 72 cases made.

Triple decant. Initially raspberry and rhubarb cobbler on the nose. Then meaty notes on top. The alcohol is appreciated (not too hot) lending this a port-like touch, which resolves with more time in glass. In the mouth, a great meaty texture with lush red / boysenberry fruit and crisp acidity. Agree with a strong minerality throughout. Just wonderful.

Decanted for 90 minutes. Delicious nose of cherry, fuzzy raspberry, and sweet floral tones. In the mouth, same silky fruit with touch of blueberry as well. In the mix also chocolate and flower petals. Closes with a long finish of crisp strawberry, acidity more prominent than tanins. (really pretty long finish)
