Initial taste was quite pleasant. After two hours of breathing, though, it was somewhat grapey and a little harsh on the finish. An hour+ later and it was pretty decent again. Certainly drinkable but nothing special. - On night two, it was smoother and a bit better. My cooking wine du jour, $5 special Savanha 2007 Shiraz from South Africa, was smoother to drink right out of the bottle.

Ok, so the concentration is impressive and the finish is medium to longish. Still a one-dimensional wine of ripe fruit and over-the-top fruit forward wine. At the price, no complaints.

I'm surprised at my reaction to this wine. Usually, I adore Australian shirazes. This one seems a little simple and too over-the-top ripe. There's something not quite balanced on the palate, although the finish is surprisingly long.

Peppery, with slightly gritty tannins around dark, spicy flavors.

A bit tanniny. Touch bitey. Not bad, not awesome.
