  On the palate, this is a lightly-concentrated, lightly oaked (or maybe unoaked?), very simple and basic red wine, but it is fairly honest and unmanipulated. Others might have tried to crank this wine up with additives or oak chips, but this seems content in its modesty. Almost watery thin in its concentration, and no real finish, but pleasant enough in its basic red wine flavor.
  
  It looks like it sells for around $15, and at that price, there are definitely plenty of other places I could look for a more interesting wine, yet I'd say that if I were served this at a reception or event, I wouldn't particularly mind drinking it, and I'd probably prefer it over a similar level wine made in the residual sugar / highly oaked style like an Apothic Red or Meiomi. Though probably most civilian wine drinkers would reach the opposite conclusion.

  A nice surprise since a NV label sometimes makes me wonder ... fruit forward, with pleasant red plum and red berry notes, along with a polished tannic backbone that lends it some unexpected sophistication.

  Blend of Mourvedre and Tannat. Floral with berry flavors and long, smooth finish. Excellent quality for price. Good for making sangrias!

  Had this at a houseparty yesterday, and it did validate decently made VA reds for me again. Not sure if this is Horton's left-overs that they make into a generic housewine, but for a summertime quaffing wine it carried itself quite excellently. A big cherry pie a la mode nose was followed by a relatively large fruit bomb (blackberries and vanilla) with some nice spice components (more asian than anything) and already smoothing tannins. Really decent midpalate and memroable finish. Horton makes a very decent norton varietal bottling, so I'm hoping that they included some of this grape in the mix.
