  • This young Colgin Syrah ‘19 is breathtakingly beautiful. Deep, rich, dark, opaque, mammoth of a wine. Intense on the nose and palate. Sun baked flowers, roasted meats, dark berries, sautéed plums, briny olives, rich minerals, iodine, savoriness, tar and slight rubber. This has a lot going on. People compare it to old world and I agree. Chalky tannins, sandy acidity on long finish.

  • 2nd bottle. The favorite amongst an array of outstanding wines for our groups tonight. Similar notes to last tasting. Perhaps some plum skin fruit adding to the mix.

  • Open that bottle night 2023.

Herin is a wine that is built around exotic aromatics of smoked meats and stewing cabbage with the added tobacco leaf. Don't come looking for sweet fruit. It is such a unique flavor profile in mouth. There are layers of bacon, cured meats, bell pepper, bay leaf, and so much underbrush.

The finish is sweet and a fruit profile that emerges only after the wine has been swallowed.
