Colour: Deep Ruby Nose: Medium intensity, a bit closed off, with some notes of raspberry, black cherry, rosemary, black pepper, sassafrass root, damp earth, vanilla, cedar, tobacco and a hint of leather. Palate: Medium plus flavour intensity, medium plus body, medium plus firm tannin, notes of raspberry, fig, vanilla, cedar, leather, black tea, black pepper, fresh herbs and coconut. Finish is medium length with lingering fruit and oak.
I don't think this is as good as Villard's Saint Joseph wines. It's still definitely the best Cornas I've had of the few I've tried but I think I'm just not a fan of the profile of Syrah the region seems to go for in youth from the few I've tried. A good one for slow roasted pork butt and polenta!

What an inviting aroma! This wine is very dark colored. First nosing has a lot of black fruits, vanilla and pepper. On the palate it follows but with some floral notes and a lot of black olive. I think it would need some more time to mellow out as the tannins are a bit on the heavy side but with generous decanting it's a really fun sexy wine!

Popped and poured, dark garnet almost ink coloured in the glass.
On the nose: violets, dark fruits, extremely inviting aromas. Some vanilla comes through, not sure if oak was involved in the aging.
On the palate: I drink a lot of Pinot and Gamay, the full bodied texture is fantastic, peppers, a hint of black olives, plums, blackberries. The finish is medium long with a fine tannins.
Having had - and thoroughly enjoyed - François Villard’s SJ P&S just a week ago, it was with considerable interest I uncorked the 20 Cornas Jouvet. And what a gladdener! Dark red, opaque with violet reflections. Nose sings with fine-tuned classic Syrah notes - blackberries, cassis, pepper, tar & black olives, a splash of backbone cured meat & earth - all in charming balance. Palate is medium-bodied, super-fresh & elegant, ethereal in style but with depth, fruit-forward & spicy, grippy tannic structure finale!

Loved this, interesting to see how it ages!
